Dawmer's sounds

Tonight we worked on Dawmer's sound system. I helped him wire up all the connections he soldered to his 12 button remote only to find out his THINK GEEK system dose not work. We hooked his 12 button remote up to my black box and it worked. Lucky he has a spare THINK GEEK system so he will bring it over next time and start over again.

Making room

With the sound system rewired I decided to move a few other things around inside Patches.
So yet again I am taking all his electronics out and moving them to more optimal locations and cleaning up the wiring where needed. Besides I have to make room for the new servos, speakers, and gadgets.

R5's final leg work

Today Brad and Syrena stopped over to get R5's legs. I set up the drill press to drill the bottom swivel hole and Brad drilled the first leg.
Once the first one was done Syrena did the second one. Now R5 is ready to be put together and standing.
Also I just got done ordering 6 servos. Two for Patches, Two for T3, and Two for R3-PD.

Rewire

Just got done rewiring my CF3. Now it is more compact and a lot less messy.
It also boasts two speakers now. One was loud to begin with now it is just "WOWtacular".
Here is the pile of old hard wire I took out. I will never use this stuff again for things like this :P
Here is a picture of my Think Geek sound system with Patches old speaker. With a little tinkering I was able to make it play louder but the quality will always suck for music.

More of a little

The order I placed for wheels finally came in for the group. Now we can get some droids moving.
I took a set and installed them on R3's motor holders. Once the Omnis come in she will be ready to drive around.
I also took out Patches sound system and started to rewire it so it is not so bulky and takes up less room. The new wire is smaller and more compact which leaves more room inside the droid for more gadgets. Here is a picture of the rewire in progress.
Also I finally got T3 back together after a major redesign to the back feet and axles.

A little of everything

I took the outer skins off R3 and taped off the areas I did not want paint on.
I took the frame outside to put the first layer of paint on but the wind had other ideas, I had to get closer than normal just to get the paint on. So after a minute of messing with it I gave up till I get the garage together or the wind dies down. Lucky there were no runs.
Next I had to make a new drive shaft for T3 as his other one was a little short and kept coming apart when his body moved up and down a lot. The new one is 3/4 of an inch longer with deeper internal threads.
Also my speakers for Patches came in. They are the same as I had before but now I will have two in him instead of just one. The old speaker that has been in Patches for two years will go in T3.
I also got some wire to rewire the system so it takes up less room.

Moose's Custom skins

Now that I am almost done installing my custom made skins for R3 I need to take tape off the center of all the door panels then take out all the4-40 screws back out of the outer layer. I will then paint the inner layer the same red as the dome pieces. I will then sand all the lines straight on the outer skin and reinstall. The Red and Black contrast should look very SITH like. The reason I am taping off most of the door centers is so the later glue has more to hold to.

Getting back to basics

With the new programing in my CF3 1 gig of space for sounds and music is not enough so I upgraded to an 8 gig card. Now to pick out some music!
After a while the guys started to come over for a build night. LC was first and I helped him mark out his lower dome ring so he could cut it to size.
Next Dawmer showed up and I showed him how and where to rivet his motor mounts together.
It was tough but he got it done.
Dash came over with his R&J dome and we compared it to Patches 300.
The R&J is an inch taller and has a higher forehead, but the aluminum of the R&J is denser and less prone to scratches.
Once everyone was going on their projects I went to work putting the rest of Jen's R3 skins on.
Group Picture for the night.

Painting in the snow

Yesterday I got tired of waiting for it to warm up so I took R3's holo outside and sprayed it. Then ran it inside before it froze to dry. If it works I will do some other small pieces like this.
Today I took a look at the holo. No flaking, cracks, or runs. I will let it sit a few extra days before I mount it as it is not warm enough to fully cure in just 48hours. Maybe I will repaint Patches boosters next :D
Got to love OmaHoth weather :P

Coming home

I put Ed's new motor mounts on. Now all my droids are back to having mounts :P
Patches is in the workshop finally with all his family.
This is my new project, Time to make a crate for Patches so I can transport him in any vehical.
Instead of buying one for hundreds of dollars I will attempt to make my own.

R5-TK's motor holders

Today Jen and i went over to help Syrena put her motor holders together that we started on last fall. I marked out the locations for where all the hardware will be mounted.
Once the pieces were clamped together we drilled holes for rivets.
Then riveted it all together.
Brad cleaned up some loose burs.
Last Syrena installed her motors. Tuesday we will mount the holders to her legs and get Dawmer's holders together. I also got some work done on my new holders for R4 today.

R2 Limo

Not an update for me but for my friend Brad. He finally got a trailer so he can haul his droids in the standing position. He is all smiles LOL

Star Wars on Ice

The droids hanging out before the show.
Jedi making the rounds making sure everyone in the senate was ok.
This is not Squid Lake!?
No Ian, that is not a barf bag! LOL
Group shot of my friends and me with one of the Hockey coordinators. All in all it was a great time here in OmaHoth.

Upgrading the CF3 Part 2

Steve got the program part done tonight and I tested it out on my droid. Everything seams to work fine :)
Tons of new beeps and boops can now be played.
Now I just have to find songs and stuff to fill in the now empty buttons.
Also all the music is now in stereo so I need to hunt up a second speaker and install it on the CF3.
I think after this next event I will rewire the system so it takes up less room inside the droid.
In a few weeks Steve and I will get together and make some speaker brackets.

Upgrading the CF3

I talked one of the other builders into getting a CF3 sound system instead of using the T-shirt thing.
We sat down together and planned how we wanted to upgrade the programing on his and my droid.
He is tackling the programing aspect of it and I am organizing and formatting the sounds for it.
Here is some of the sounds and music I did.
Now I am zipping it up and sending it to him for testing on the program.
Now I just need a cable so I can install the BASIC code on Patches system :)
