Curving plastic

Last night we did some more work on the legs. Assembling the second leg to match the first. Even out local Astrid cosplayer came out to help.
With it being over 100 degrees out and humidity near 100% we stayed inside as much as possible.
Making a big mess and joking around as we build, we managed to get a lot done.

Rollin :)

Cleaning up around here

As much as I clean up in the workshop I never really clean up my blog. So I streamlined it a bit and now there is less clutter. No more music as I am sure you have plenty to play on your PC as it is. lol I also made smaller logos, and have less side links to click on.
Hope you like it!

Dalek Dome

Here is Jen doing some router work for me, getting pieces ready for the inside of one of the heads.
Here is a preview of one of the Dalek Domes we are doing, got the swivel mechanism installed so the head can turn, and the eye stalk is progressing nicely. The ears and all the wiring are the next thing to go on.

Leg up

Today we got a little more work done on the robotic legs. Jeanette and Jen cut some more pieces on the chop saw that we needed.
Then me and Jeanette started assembling all the various piece with glue once we were happy with how it worked. Keeping track of all the pieces at once was no easy task.
One leg done, another one started on.

Doctor makes a house call

One of my friend's kids is a big Doctor Who fan, so on her birthday she woke up to a surprise in the living room.
She thought it was pretty cool as did her guests.
Later on after the party she came with to bring the TARDIS back, she then got to see all the other Doctor Who stuff we are making. The look on her face was priceless. LOL

Starting on the legs

Now that the prototype is working we started making the real legs. Jeanette cut the pieces we needed on the chop saw, this was our newest builder's first time ever using a power saw. She did a great job!
As Jeanette cut the pieces I started putting it all together. All 500 pieces of it!
More updates soon!

Robotic legs

Building my first set of robotic legs and helping a friend out at the same time with their project. After taking Jeanette's body measurements we scaled a working cardboard template as a prototype. Everything seems real close and the movement is fluid. Tomorrow we start building the real thing!
One happy camper!

The art of Patches

Went to a con last weekend with the droids. My friend Fredd made this artwork for me of Patches with a donation to a children's charity of his choice. Love it!!!! Win, Win!

Workshop upgrade Part 4

I really got tired of not having any outlets on the outside of the garage, so today I remedied that by putting one in. It can be turned off from the inside so no one can use it if I do not want them to.
Got a few extra storage bins from my friend Syrena that she does not use anymore. I put a whole bunch together and screwed them to the wall so they do not fall down. Now I got room for all my odds and ends, small lumber scraps, and storage for all my friend's projects.

Workshop upgrade Part 3

Installed lights on the outside of the garage that have a little of that Moose charm to them.
While putting in the wiring for the lights I updated the security system as well.
No info on that. :P
Next I started stripping the paint off the garage door and using a quality primer on it.
I would put a newer door on but this one is solid as a rock so why mess with quality.

Workshop upgrade Part 2

Got all the cleaning materials and paint. Ready to tackle the Workshop today.

What a mess! Even after the garage sale there is still tons of junk everywhere. After cleaning everything out and making sure it was all clean of poison oak, everything else was scrubbed down to get the floor ready for paint. I could not belive how much roofing material ended up coating the garage.
One section down, two more to go!
Break time! You know what that means? BBQ time!!!!

Two sections done and already we have a ton more room! I will get to the back section next week then onto the other improvements.
