3 domes at once

Last night after the movie theater I took my dome completely apart and cleaned up most of the hot glue that was holding everything on.

After work I spent a few hours wet sanding the primer on my panels to get rid of most of the spin marks.
After a while my fellow builder friends Clay and Dash came over to work on their domes as well. First Dash cut the lower ring off of his C&D dome.

Then Dash made a template to mark out the various line heights and widths.

At the same time Clay changed his pitman motor in his droid to one with a little more speed so he can spin the dome faster.
Once we were done messing with the other two domes and my friends had left I put another coat of primer on my dome panels. With a light sanding to take the orange peel off tomorrow evening I will put the first coat of "Ithorian" brown on.

Aluminum Work

After work today I went and got all the paint and glue supplies I would need to put my dome together after the Clone Wars Pre-release event this Saturday.

I did a final sanding on all my dome panels then washed them thoroughly. Next I put 2 coats of primer on them that I will sand on Sunday. Three of the panels I will have to glue back on the dome for now so you can not see the holes in his head.

After that I sanded and cleaned all the front door pieces for the body.
After a while Jason came over with his new C&D dome and cut some of the extra material off of it.

After helping Jason for a bit I finished gluing the front door panels together will some 3M super 77 glue.

A few hours later I hot glued the body panels into place. It may not look that great but at least the cameras wont see threw the body this weekend. LOL Once I get the dome all together I will start putting the body together the right way. I still need to take off all the hot glue strings before Saturdays movie.

Omaha Royals Base Ball Game Star Wars Night

Omaha Royals Base Ball Game Star Wars Night. What a blast! I have not been to the ball park in a long time. It was fun greeting all the fans as they came threw the main entrance. The local 501st and Rebel Legion were in full force as well. After the game there was a Star Wars themed fire works show! Here are just a few pictures.....

Update

Not much to report build wise this week. I took my motor mounts apart a few times trying to get them to fit in the jag foot shells.

Last Friday I got to take R2 to the Omaha Royals Base Ball Game. along with what seemed to be 50 501st members and 10 Rebel legion members. My friend Clay's R2 and mine were a hit. Kids and adults alike loved the droids. After about 2 hours of constant running my feet motors overheated and I had to let them cool down for a while. So I am beginning to think that the added weight of the foot shells might be to much for my 135 watt motors if i ever get them on.
Maybe I should get some fiberglass or styrene ones.

I will post some pictures of the Royals game as soon as I get some.
