Not much of an update but I am happy about it. I finally found the right shoes for my Dude costume. They were hard to find especially in my size as they have not been made sense the 50s! Once they come in I got to take the laces out, then clean and recolor the leather to the right colors as in the movie.

Bed frame project work
I took the few of the bed frames I have so far and started to take them apart and cut them to size.
Look at all the pretty sparks! Make sure to wear safety goggles boys and girls.
Here is all the usable metal I was able to get out of the bed frames.
A bunch of scrap which is useless in this project. I will put it in my recycling bin.
Just three or four more frames and I can start to put it all together!

Time to clean again
Well it is that time again. Time to clean the basement workshop. It is amazing on how cluttered this room gets even when I have not used it for a few months. My goal is to get all the projects organized into areas, all batteries charged, and all the tools where they belong. Everything else needs to find a new home.
Got a few more group build days coming up and got to make room for a few more bodies. I also got to make room for this years Con project so the treadmill and other extra furniture got to go. Maybe I will be lucky and find a bed frame under this mess. LOL

Let there be light
Got the Plexiglas in for my Con project this week. I pealed a corner of the paper back to take a look and it lights up like a Christmas tree. It better for how much this stuff costs! I wish I could make this project full size but just in Plexi alone it would cost Thousands of dollars, plus how the heck would I haul it all. :)
On my Facebook I am giving big clues as to what it is. Can you guess what it is?

Jim's TK
Jim stopped over so I could lend him a hand with his TK armor. He is taking the extra steps to make even the insides movie accurate by adding snaps instead of Velcro.
Each snap holder Jim made had to be shaped to fit the armor. That is where I came in, I carefully heated up each snap and formed them to the armor.
Tada! We got them all formed and attached in a few hours. Now Jim has to attach the other side of the snaps to the strapping and then cut them to length. His armor just might be the most movie accurate in the garrison when he is done!

Horseshoes anyone?
Nothing like the fresh smell of styrene in the morning! I dug out the horseshoe I made last fall for R3 and cut out an identical one by hand on the new sheet. Plenty of plastic left for some feet later!
Perfect fit! Now I just got to give it a light sanding and silver it up before installing it.

Dusting off the droids
Time to do some maintenance and updates to the two main droids in my army. Today I gave them a look over and made a list of stuff to do. As some of the other R2-Central Builders need some upgrades as well we will probably do a few together in the upcoming month. The big projects for me will be making foot shells and finishing the horseshoes for R3. Once it warms up we got a ton of painting to do on most of the robots as well....

Dude my drill!
This afternoon I got the gutted drill back together and started taking the stickers and rubber grip off.
It is slow work with Goo Gone but it will have it finished by the end of the day and it will look just like the drill in the movie. I also ordered the tool belt that was close to the original as they are no longer made. With two simple mods it will be exact.

Sticker Shock!
For my secret Con bed frame project I just ordered $326.00 worth of Plexi glass. OUCH! It would have cost me a lot more but my Dad got me a deal through Bellevue Glass and Mirror. Thanks Dad! I was also able to get a payment plan with no interest for 6 months and i still get the plexi this week!
I also found my old water bed frame in my old Barn workshop. Now I just need a few more!

Rub a Dub Dub Dude!
No i have not lost my mind, but I did wash a power tool in a tub yesterday.
For my "Dude" costume It requires a De Walt cordless drill. I just happened to have one that has not been used in years. So naturally I dug it out of storage and started to take it apart for cleaning as well as reducing the drills weight.
This is one dirty Drill!
Remember children, do not try this at home. Electricity and water are dangerous.
After scrubbing for a while I set the drill aside to dry. Once I get the stickers and rubber handle off I will wash it one more time and reassemble.
More photos and updates on my Facebook Page!

501st RoughRiders Hockey Game
Another day, another hockey game. This time it was on the other side of Iowa with troopers from a few surrounding states. There was so many people at the event we did not have time to take any real photos. Here are a few we did get.
Getting together in the lobby.
Having a bit of fun before show time.
Large trooper turn out!
Empire on ice.
After the troop we all went out to dinner and hung out for a few hours. :)

The Dude Costume
Other than my secret Bed frame project I am making my first non-Sci-Fi/fantasy costume.
It is from a not so well known movie that I will not mention the name of as it is rated "R" and I want to keep this site as clean as possible for everyone to view. Other than this post all updates of it from here on out will be on my Facebook only.
Today I started on the tool belt, some stuff I had already, some I found while at the store. I am ordering the jumpsuit later this week. This will be a fun costume for the late night con get togethers. :)

Still need bed Frames part 2
Quite a few people have their eyes open for bed frames but none yet so please keep looking. Went out shopping for stuff and found some really nice "bed" sheet fabric. I also picked up some other odds and ends needed for the project as well..
I also did some more work on K-9 but forgot to drill one bolt hole bigger so I could put a stronger bolt in so it looks like I might have to take him all back apart just to drill this one hole. "Oh well, the Dude abides...." :)

K-9 attack!
Had a snow day today so I took the time to finish the internal parts for K-9's head and reinstall everything inside the body. While I was installing everything Izzy decided to attack me with her tounge. As I was holding on to stuff inside of K-9 and could not let go of it, I got completely slobbered on. LOL
Well at least K-9's head motors are back in and I can move on to the next thing that needs done.... Well maybe after a shower. :)
