A few other 501st troopers and me did a troop for Relay For Life. this weekend in Iowa. Here is one of many moments caught on tape. I will post pictures in a later post as well.

Having a little fun
Patches got a picture from an admirer this week. An R2 from a coloring book painted brown.
Patches loves it and so do we! It will be going on R2-CM's refrigerator once he has carried it around for a while.
Thank you so much for the wonderful gift! Beep! Boop!
Another fun thing is this picture of B9 with R3's clear dome on instead of his own. It looks kinda cool and the dome matches the claws. lol No R3, you can not keep B9's body.

B-9 in the house!
I acquired a new robot from my friend Brad as he no longer has the room for it. It needs a few repairs and upgrades but for the most part everything is there. Poor B-9 has not been powered up in over two years so I took the time to dust out his insides and figure out what plugs into what. I got a few of his lights and sounds going again. On the floor you can see his EQ on the monitor and his chest lights flickering. I will probably do a complete gut out of the computer later but I wanted to get the original system working first so I can take some video of it for the history books. Other upgrades I will do is eye lights, real rubber treads and simple hand movements.

Helping with R2-AL
Jaka was kind enough to bring her droid all the way from Colorado for a local con this past weekend so I helped her get her droid's dome and foot motors working. Here is a short video of the motor holders spinning for the first time.

Silver is sexy
Today Jen silvered up some of the parts for her R3. Note she has her nails painted silver as well. LOL
A few parts later and some dry time they were ready to install.
Here is a picture with all the parts installed. One picture with a flash, one without. The R3 legs still need a few parts but they are looking good.

This and That
Tonight I got Patches' new foot shells mostly put together, tomorrow I will work on the hoses and fittings. I also got R3's red ankle pieces attached.
I also started taking the pieces of the TARDIS out of storage and started cleaning them up. Ya! The light still works!

Getting pretty for CON season
Today I cut out by hand a styrene coin return and one lower side vent for R3. The back side of the vent needed some red paint so I went ahead and painted it along with two of her outer ankle leg pieces.
After all the paint was dry I silvered the other parts then assembled the styrene pieces and attached them to the droid.
With the lower side vent in as well as the coin return R3 looks a lot better. Now to work on the last part of the center power coupler so no one can see inside the droid.

Joint event
Today the 501st, Rebel Legion, and R2-Central did another event together out in Omaha at a local store that has been around for 50+ years.. Patches (R2-CM) was happy to help. Lots of kids came up to him to say hi.
R2-TD came as well, here are the two droids hamming it up for the camera.
When it got to hot out we went inside the store for a break.
This will soooo be our Christmas card this year!
Hello!
Tons of people from all over came to the event. lines were everywhere!
Here are the rest of the pictures on the R2-Central Facebook page!

Prepping Patches
We got an event to do tomorrow with the 501st, thought it was time to take Patches out for a spin as he has stayed at home for the last few events. I took him apart tonight and charged everything back up, fixed his loose back door, and put part of his new shoes on. Poor ED is wondering when he will get a turn. Soon ED....soon. :)

Full scale to minis scale
Had another small build night the other night but some how we all went from building full scale Star Wars props to playing the minis game. Go figure, and it is not even game night! lol
We played a few rounds, bounty hunter VS bounty hunter.
Once we got gaming out of our systems it was back to work on projects. My new R2 dome is coming along nicely and will be ready for paint soon.

Patches' new shoes
The other day I finally got around to making Patches some new shoes. I spent about an hour with some styrene scraps and a razor blade cutting all these pieces out by hand. Tonight I will cut out the last few pieces and start putting them together.
